A NEW LIFESTYLE FOR A BETTER YOU

MAKING THE FIRST STEP IS THE HARDEST PART, SO WE’RE HERE TO HELP

Currently, going vegan is such a foreign concept to most people and to those who have some experience with it, it seems like this huge task which will involve giving up everything they know and love. In reality, all it involves is a few tweaks to your diet for you to receive a multitude of benefits, not only for your health, but for the world you live in and potentially, your kids will grow up in.

Most people are against animal cruelty. When they see a bird that’s fallen from a tree, or an animal that’s injured, the first instinct is to help it, not to do more harm. If you share in the same belief of doing less harm, then automatically you believe in one of the core principles of a vegan lifestyle and living this way would be following your own ideals.

Take a look at some of our interviews and stories from life as a vegan.

RATIONALITY

VEGANS ARE OFTEN REFERRED TO AS CRAZY AND EXTREMISTS, WHICH WHILE IT CAN SEEM THAT WAY ON THE OUTSIDE, THE OPPOSITE IS TRUE. YOU WOULD NEVER HARM YOUR FAMILY PET, SO WHY THEN IS IT OKAY TO HARM OTHER ANIMALS, ESPECIALLY AS IT’S UNNECESSARY AND DAMAGES YOUR HEALTH. cAUSING UNNECESSARY DAMAGE TO YOUR HEALTH AND OUR PLANET SHOULD BE CONSIDERED EXTREME.

THEN WHY ISN’T THE WORLD VEGAN?

THE 4 REASONS PEOPLE CAN’T GIVE UP THEIR ADDICTION TO ANIMAL PRODUCTS ARE TASTE, CONVENIENCE, HABIT AND TRADITION. LET’S TAKE A LOOK INTO EACH OF THEM.

TASTE

Most vegans weren’t actually born vegan and instead they switched over at some point in their life. It would be a lie to state that vegans hated animal products from the start, otherwise they’d have switched their diet over naturally.

As luck would have it, taste buds are a fickle thing and pretty soon once you’ve began to try other delicious foods which are healthful and nutritious, you begin to lose the taste for animal products. For many, animal products, being the health damaging products that they are, actually tend to make you sick if you haven’t eaten them in a while because your body has gotten used to eating products that do your body good.

CONVENIENCE

We can’t speak for all vegans but there are a good amount of us who miss only the convenience of being a non vegan. Being able to walk into any supermarket and put anything in your basket without having to worry. However, as you’ll likely have seen, there are many products popping up in supermarkets and restaurants which is making veganism more realistic for even the most unaccomplished of home cooks.

This, however is ignoring the fact that a staple vegan diet consists of fruit, vegetables, legumes, grains, nuts and seeds, which are some of the cheapest and most widely available choices.

Lastly, considering the health aspect of not following a plant based diet, it could be argued that an animal product based diet is rather inconvenient.

TRADITION

The are many traditions today which are cruel, yet still continue. Eating turkey for thanksgiving, or bull fighting, religious reasons etc. Maybe you have traditions in your family that have been done for years and at this point it might be unsure why this tradition remains. This is actually true for a lot of traditions, ask yourself why you eat turkey for thanksgiving, or if you don’t, did you ever wonder why it’s done?

Likely it’s not been a question you’ve ever been asked, but participate in it regardless. Let’s say something happened 500 years ago and is the reason why the tradition remains, but is it a good reason to continue the treatment of innocent, breathing beings?

Simple Answer, No.

HABIT

Humans are creatures of habit, in that we know what we like and we’re often cautious to change. This applies to all areas of life. Habits are extremely hard to break, which is why for some, the change to a vegan lifestyle can be hard.

You probably have maybe 5-15 foods that you eat throughout the week and know what snacks you like to have. If you think it will be impossible to change these foods you currently eat, ask yourself this.

Did you ever try a food you first thought bizarre and now you consider it a staple? Chilli and chocolate for example, or peanut butter and jam. Well switching to a vegan diet can be similar to that (for some), but often just involves changing a few key ingredients, often a barely noticeable change.

So, What’s this page for?

When thinking about switching to veganism, we had a tough time in the early days as there’s so much to learn, yet all the information we needed was spread all over the internet. We thought that it’d be great if everything was in one place, so that’s what we’ve built.

We WILL BE CONSTANTLY ADDING content OVER TIME IT BECOMES A MORE COMPLETE AND MORE USEFUL RESOURCE THAT ANYONE CAN ACCESS. IF YOU FIND IT LACKING IN ANY AREA, LET US KNOW WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE.
